Employee Engagement - Why Does It Matter?

Some clues to this question may be found in the 2012 Towers Watson Global Workforce Study, which surveyed 32,000 employees across 30 countries. It concluded that the main factor in driving employee engagement and performance is "a work environment that fully energizes employees by promoting their physical, emotional and social well-being." Dramatic performance differences, by a margin of nearly three to one, distinguish companies with the most engaged employees and those with the least engaged employees.
